From 2002-2004, I served as a school-based therapist at a local middle school in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I provided assessments, treatment planning, interventions, coordination of care with school and parents for students ages 11-16, primarily utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
From 2004-2012, I took a professional break from social work to care for an ill family member.
From 2012-2015, I worked as a Qualified Professional on an Intensive In Home team and then became a Clinical Lead utilizing Family Centered Treatment (FCT) based in Family Systems Theory. As a Qualified Professional, I met with clients and family members multiple times per week to implement interventions to meet treatment goals. As a Clinical Lead, I supervised Qualified Professionals on my team, guided treatment, and provided overall case supervision. In both roles, I provided 24/7 on call emergency crisis coverage.
From 2015-2018, I worked as an Outpatient Therapist at Fellowship Health Resources, a community mental health agency. During this time, I became intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as well as the trauma program from DBT, Prolonged Exposure Therapy. I co-lead the DBT group as well as worked directly with clients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. Additionally, I ran the Depression Group. I also worked with adolescents and adults with a variety of diagnosis including those with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness.
From 2018-2020, I worked as a Behavioral Health Therapist at Avance Care in Garner. During that time, I saw a variety of clients both adolescents and adults with various medical and mental health illnesses. I worked with clients who were referred by medical staff, who they felt could benefit from working with a mental health professional to assist them in improving mental health symptoms and coping with medical diagnoses.
From 2020-2024, I worked at Three Oaks Behavioral Health & Wellness as a Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. I primarily provide individual therapy. I have completed training in Somatic and Attachment Focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (SAFE EMDR) to provide trauma treatment. Additionally, I have taken trainings in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) and Intergenerational Trauma and began being Internal Family Systems (IFS) Informed.
I began my role as a clinical supervisor in 2022 and oversee newly graduating clinicians with associate level licensure to assist them in achieving full licensure from the state of North Carolina. I provide supervision to clinicians who work with children, adolescents and adults including individuals, families, and couples.
In 2024, I began my own private practice Greenwood Psychotherapy & Consulting, with a colleague, Melissa Graf. I have complete Level 1 of Internal Family Systems (IFS).
